Tropical cyclone Nargis hit the coast of Myanmar and devastated large parts of the low-lying Irrawaddy delta.
Winds exceeding 190 km/hour ripped through Yangon for more than 10 hours.
Homes were flattened, more sturdy structures damaged, trees uprooted and power lines downed.
95 % of homes were wiped off the face of the earth.
A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck 57 miles north-west of Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan in China.
There were fears over some 900 students buried in a secondary school in the city of Dujiangyan.
Those little hands poking out from under the rubble of that devastated school to save their life..
More than 20,000 people are still missing and very sad to say more than 60,000 died.
The plight of the refugees really wrung my heart.
